The Importance of Detox and Cleaning for Life Transformation
"Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. I clothed you also with embroidered cloth and shod you with fine leather. I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk. And I adorned you with ornaments and put bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck. And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. Thus, you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen and silk and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour and honey and oil. You grew exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty" (New International Version Holy Bible. Ezekiel 16: 4-13).
When people feel stressed, overwhelmed, or discouraged, they often look for ways to bring themselves up. They might try doing some activities they learned to be good at reducing or managing their stress, such as exercise, therapy, and yoga. People choose their training based on what they believe is the source of their anxiety. For example, if an individual struggles with obesity, they might try going to the gym to lose weight or dieting. They often fail to achieve their desired weight loss because of the lack of consistency, which is not the result of a lack of discipline. Instead, it is the wrong approach to healthy life transformation.
All human challenges we face are multifaceted; if we don't tackle each facet appropriately, sometimes, in order will result in failed attempts. However, if we begin our healthy lifestyle transition by cleaning our environments, we set the path for successful changes. To live a healthy lifestyle, individuals first need healthy environments.
Environment meaning and function relate to our physical
The Environment is the surroundings or conditions in which people, animals, or plants live or operate—also the non-living elements and their effects that influence individual life. Environment plays a vital role I human life:
It offers resources for production.
It sustains life.
It assimilates waste.
It enhances life's qualities.
The meaning of Environment relates to our Psyche (Soul)
The mental Environment is the type that affects people's perceptions. Most of the time, the mental Environment shapes and encourages particular thinking and attitudes. The mental Environment supports growth by providing an incestual atmosphere.
The meaning of Environment relates to Social
The Social Environment defines individual social associations that begin in an infant's early life. The Social Environment also includes the cultural atmosphere of society, with its components as religion, myths, literature, music, art, social conventions, and political organization. All people inherit cultural traits from their Social Environment.
Mess and Clutter have a Great Impact on People's Health
Environmental influences begin even at the time of conception. We start interacting with everything we are exposed to in our mother's womb. The nutrition we receive impacts our development; after birth, we are influenced by our physical and social Environment. There is a thin line between stress and illness. When our environments do not foster happiness, we become stressed; chronic stress can weaken our immune system and lead to diseases such as depression and anxiety. There are various ways to cope with stress; changing the Environment is the first step.
Everyone will agree that walking into a clean, well-organized environment gives them a sense of pleasure. Keeping your home and engaging in routine cleaning is good practice for a healthy lifestyle. Research proves that cleaning or lack of cleaning can directly affect overall health. If, for instance, we take the Biblical passage above, it shows that the transformation started after the bath, which is a form of cleaning or detox, if you may call it. Whether talking about our homes, work, or mental space, mess, and Clutter negatively impact us.
Depression is associated with Clutter
It is crucial to be conscious of our Environment, How it affects us. Clutter can lead to loss of focus, confusion, and tenseness. When our mind is disarranged, it makes it difficult to marshal our thoughts or focus on a specific task. Researchers state that objects unrelated to a particular job can overwhelm a person's visual cortex. Clutter does not necessarily means messy, but somehow there are intertwined negative emotions like irritability, tension, and confusion, in contrast to cleanliness and neatness that promotes calmness and clarity.
Benefits of cleaning and Decluttering
Gain a sense of control.
Feeling out of control never benefits human life, so we become stressed. Cleaning will indeed contribute that gaining control over struggles. Our mind can send the message that gives us the urge to clean and declutter, but in our confused state, we cannot receive the message.
Improve mood positively.
Nothing feels better than walking into a welcoming environment. Smiling is good for the soul and the people around us. Not only does smiling reduce stress also, eliminates tension between individuals. Researchers found excellent benefits of smiling over people psychologically and physiologically. Keeping your house clean and organized indeed brings quality to human lives.
Increase focus.
Messiness can impact every area of a person's life—especially the ability to focus. Clutter affects the brain by slowing its ability to process information. Researchers say people are less irritable, distracted, and more productive when performing tasks in a clean, decluttered Environment.
Bring clarity.
The word clarity is significant; we need a clear mind when making decisions to avoid and prevent regrettable mistakes. Declutter and cleaning give that clarity. We all agree that stepping out in a cloudy sky automatically negatively affects how we perceive the day. It is no different when functioning in a cluttered and messy place.
Incorporate Cleaning Into our Lives is Essential
Regardless of the source of struggling life, cleaning and decluttering can improve the situation. When depression hits, it seems like cleaning is not a top priority. However, it is a mistake. Here are some ideas to incorporate cleaning into our healthy habits. Start by making the bed in the morning. Sort closets and cabinets and get rid of anything that is just occupying space. Establish a place for everything, such as bed sheets, towels, and dirty clothes. Last but not least, avoid having a lot of dirty dishes. Then make a list of daily tasks and tackle them one by one.
